About the Role:

As Head of Performing Arts, you will set the vision for the development of performance arts, music, and drama across the school. You will inspire and lead staff, think strategically, and demonstrate a high standard of subject knowledge, enabling you to deliver high quality teaching to ensure that students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership to the Performing Arts Department so that teaching and learning is consistently good or better
  • Lead the successful delivery of music and drama across the school
  • Inspire and enthuse members of the team with a clear vision for the future direction of the department
  • Develop an innovative and progressive curriculum in Performing Arts
  • Monitor standards of teaching and learning within the department and implement strategies for sustained improvement
  • Safeguard young people by ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to in lessons, rehearsals, and performances
  • Lead the department's strategic planning and self-evaluation processes
  • Provide regular reports on student performance based on internal assessment data and examination results
  • Promote and lead delivery of all extra-curricular activities
  • Coordinate school productions, concerts, and workshops, showcasing student talent
  • Design an appropriate and progressive curriculum that reflects the school's ethos and meets student needs
  • Manage departmental resources effectively
  • Ensure continuity and raising of standards between Key Stages
  • Maintain an overview of progress and implement intervention to raise attainment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's degree desirable)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Effective leader with a track record of experience in academic/curriculum leadership positions
  • Experience in delivery of the English National Curriculum
  • Problem solver, able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Strategic thinker, able to prioritise, plan and organise
  • Team builder
  • Highly skilled teacher, able and happy to model highly effective planning, teaching, marking and assessment
  • Excellent communication skills, leadership and persuasion skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Resilient, adaptable, and flexible
  • Sense of humor
  • International school teaching experience desirable
  • Understanding of UK independent school education desirable
