Q: What is Teaching Nomad?
A: Teaching Nomad is an international teacher placement company founded in 2011 that helps educators find teaching jobs abroad. We work with schools and learning institutions worldwide to match qualified teachers with the right opportunities.
Q: Where are your teaching jobs located?
A: We work with schools in countries globally - across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America. Opportunities include K-12 schools, language centers, and universities.
Q: Do you only place teachers for English teaching jobs?
A: No. While many opportunities are for English/ESL teachers, we also recruit for other subjects such as math, science, social studies, PE, art, and more. We also have leadership, counselor and librarian opportunities.
Q: How do I apply for a teaching job?
A: You can browse our job board and apply directly through our website. Once you create a free profile, and your profile is approved (we manually screen new profiles), you can submit applications to multiple positions with just a few clicks.
Q: Is there a fee to use Teaching Nomad?
A: No. Our placement services are completely free for teachers. We are paid by the schools we partner with.
Q: Do I need teaching experience to apply?
A: Some positions require prior teaching experience, while others accept new graduates or career changers. Each job listing specifies its requirements.
Q: How long does the hiring process take?
A: It varies by school and position, but most hiring processes take between 2–8 weeks from application to offer.
Q: Do I need a TEFL/TESOL certificate?
A: Many schools require a TEFL/TESOL certificate for ESL positions. If you don’t have one yet, Teaching Nomad offers accredited TEFL courses.
Q: What documents will I need?
A: Common requirements include a valid passport, bachelor’s degree, teaching license (for licensed teaching jobs), TEFL/TESOL certificate, and background check.
Q: Do I need to be a native English speaker?
A: Currently due to visa restrictions on the roles they advertise with us, applicants must be native English speakers with a passport from the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. If you do not meet this requirement, we unfortunately cannot help you but do encourage you to explore opportunities elsewhere.
Q: Will the school help with my visa?
A: Yes. All our partner schools assist with visa sponsorship and application, but requirements vary by country.
Q: Is housing included?
A: Many schools offer free or subsidized housing, while others provide a housing allowance. This will be listed in the job description.
Q: Can I bring my family or partner?
A: Some positions offer family-friendly benefits, including dependent visas, flights, tuition and housing. Others are better suited for single teachers.
Q: Does Teaching Nomad help after I get hired?
A: Yes. We provide ongoing support before, during, and after your move abroad to help you adjust to your new teaching position and life overseas.
Q: Can you help me get certified to teach abroad?
A: Yes. We offer TEFL certification courses, guidance on licensing, and advice for meeting the requirements of your target country.
