DYB, or Do Your Best, is a well-established English academy with a strong presence in and around Seoul. With a history of over 30 years and steady growth, the academy boasts a student body of over 30,000 and a team of 1,000 teachers and staff.
DYB offers English classes from elementary to high school, with Native English-speaking teachers specifically instructing students from fourth grade to the second year of middle school. The CEO and founder, Song Oh Hyun, plays an instrumental role in shaping the academy's direction and teaching philosophy.
At DYB, our students are taught using our unique teaching methodology, the “DYB Circular System”. This system is designed to be a more organic way of coming to terms with English than the rote memorization method used so commonly elsewhere. It covers all aspects of the English language, including writing, speaking, reading, and listening. Both Korean and non-Korean staff are employed as teachers, with the former primarily responsible for grammar, reading, and listening, and the latter for speaking and writing.
Each grade typically offers four levels of English, with an additional advanced level for students who are ready for extra challenges. The materials and books used in the classrooms are tailored to each level, ensuring that students are challenged but not beyond ability. The Korean teachers handle most of the testing while Native English-speaking Teachers bring creativity and engagement to their classes.
With a growing team of over 150 Native English-speaking teachers from all over the world, DYB has a company structure that supports the development of leadership. Many of the academy's Native English-speaking Teachers have been able to aspire to leadership roles within their respective campuses, thanks to the trust and support of the company.
