Americana Chinese International School (ACIS) opened in August 2019 by Amporn and Chugait Garmolgomut. The Garmolgomuts are award-winning teachers and school administrators with nearly 30 years’ experience as educators. The other schools operated by Amporn and Chugait Garmolgomut are Unity Concord International School (UCIS), Little Stars Bilingual School, Ambassador Bilingual School (ABS), CEC Language School and Finn College.
ACIS originated in response to the growing need of an increasing population and the requests of parents seeking to enroll their children in an American project-based education system while also incorporating the demand for Chinese Language Learning. This need, backed by a school which will provide the opportunity for their children to attend higher level education at University both in Thailand and abroad, is why ACIS was established.
Our school’s advantage above other international schools lies with our tuition price, level of education standards, and language acquisition. We use American standards in education, which enforces critical thinking, creativity, and leadership. 100% of our curriculum is taught in English, including our textbooks which all come from popular, well-known American textbook publishing companies. Along with our standards in education, we offer Chinese language as an additional class. Our students who study with us from Kindergarten will graduate from our school one day as bilingual students in both English and Chinese, as well as their own family’s native language.
The school will open its doors to students on August 19th, 2019, and will only be offering Pre-Kindergarten to grade 6 initially. This will increase to Grade 12 over the coming years.
The class sizes are capped at 20 per classroom grades Pk-K3, 26 for grades 1-6 and 32 in grades 7-12 (when opened) to maintain the desired student to teacher ratio.
ACIS is located next to ABS and opposite UCIS on the Super Highway in the Nong-Pheung sub-district of Sarapee in the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand. The school’s campus is located in a less populated area about a twenty-minute drive South East of the Old City, which is the center of Chiang Mai city.
