Stepping Stones (上海闵行区华漕铺路石青少年发展中心) is a not-for-profit volunteering organization registered in Shanghai with a mission to improve the education and general welfare of disadvantaged children in China.
Stepping Stones has hosted numerous programs focused on children’s education and well-being since 2006. Stepping Stones recruits, trains and supports about 1,000 volunteers per year to help children and youth discover the joy of learning a foreign language, digital literacy and other subjects critical to their holistic development. We also provide training to foreign language teachers. Our program delivers more than 96,000 student-lessons to around 6,000 students each year in 10 provinces.
Our programs offer a rewarding way to get to know another side of China’s society and to contribute in an impactful way to the education and general welfare of disadvantaged children.
There are many ways you can get involved: teaching English or computer skills, photography, translation, fundraising and more. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and are passionate about helping disadvantaged children improve their confidence and self-esteem.
