Job Description

Job Summary & Responsibilities

  • Schedule: M-F, 7:30am 4:15pm 
  • No more than 20, 40 min periods per week (extra pay for overtime if necessary)
  • Location: Shanghai, Qingpu district (shuttle from downtown provided)
 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate to qualifications and experience
  • 12,600 RMB/month housing allowance
  • 2,600 RMB/month transportation allowance
  • 5% end of 2 year contract completion bonus
  • Paid holidays: Chinese government holidays, 3-4 weeks for spring festival, 1 week for Christmas, 6-7 weeks off in the summer

Requirements

  • 2+ years coll;ege counselor experience
  • Familiar with US college applications
  • Learn how to get your teaching license whilst working abroad
  • BA degree or above and degree in education preferred
  • Experience with US Common Core Curriculum preferred
  • Age required: 24 - 55
  • Happy, healthy and accepting of Chinese culture
  • Ideal candidate must be a serious, career oriented teacher with stable personal life. Bring a willingness to combine their western expertise with Chinese culture to present the best of both worlds for the students.
 
 

Summary

 
We are proud to partner with this well established school of over 1,200 students grades 1 to 11 in Shanghai. China. The school is proud to be accredited and recognized as a school of distinction through Cognia (previously AdvancedEd). The location is about an hour from downtown but a shuttle is provided to make transportation easy. If you prefer to live closer to work there are housing options nearby as well. The staff at the school describe a great sense of togetherness and collaborative environment between foreign and local staff. The students are caring citizens and global thinkers, and the school really goes out of its way to provide a unique and engaging learning environment by doing things like bring in special guests for school events. Although the compensation and benefits are on par with a true international school, this is a school of Chinese students and therefore an appreciation of Chinese culture is expected.

Soong Ching Ling School (SCLS), founded in 2008, comprises primary, middle and high schools. The school currently has 1,500 students in both Domestic and International Divisions. SCLS is located in Zhaoxiang, Qingpu district, covering an area of nearly 100，000 (㎡). With a greening rate of 60 percent, the school is renowned for its graceful environment.
